Seahawks Now Sit in Driver's Seat Pursuing Wild Card Spot - Locked On Podcast
In the aftermath of a brutal four-game losing streak, a pair of season-saving wins over the past two weeks haven't just elevated the Seattle Seahawks back into playoff contention, but put them in a position where they hold complete control of their postseason destiny as the regular season nears conclusion.
After dropping a 28-16 road tilt to the 49ers on December 10, Seattle sat in the ninth spot in the NFC standings and a full game in the loss column behind Los Angeles and Minnesota. But with wins over Philadelphia and Tennessee coupled with two losses by Minnesota and a loss by Green Bay, coach Pete Carroll's squad has vaulted back into the final wild card spot with two games remaining on the schedule.
Unlike the previous two weeks where the Seahawks would have needed additional outside help to ensure a playoff spot, slip ups by the Vikings and Packers have given them complete control over their destiny. If they can win their final two games, no matter what happens in the rest of the NFC, they will now be guaranteed a wild card spot as long as they handle their own business on the field.
After an exciting Christmas weekend around the NFL, hosts Corbin Smith and Rob Rang revisit the latest NFC standings and discuss why the Seahawks now finds themselves in an ideal situation for making the postseason, dish out their closing thoughts on Sunday's win in Tennessee with their "Tell The Truth Tuesday" analysis, including Seattle's second half dominance at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and take a first peek at the Steelers heading into Sunday's New Years Eve contest.
