Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett Reveals 'Biggest Thing' About Geno Smith on Game-Winning Drive vs. Titans
The Seattle Seahawks narrowly slipped past the Tennessee Titans 20-17 to move to 8-7 on the season to keep their playoff hopes alive ... and they have Geno Smith to thank.
After missing the last two games due to a groin injury, Smith was back in the huddle against the Titans and when his team needed him most, he produced his fourth game-winning drive of the season.
He would lead the Seahawks offense on a 17-play, 53-yard drive that ended with tight end Colby Parkinson hauling in a five-yard touchdown pass from Smith.
“I think the biggest thing about Geno is he's super calm,” Tyler Lockett said of Smith on that final drive. “Like he's not gonna panic, he's literally putting the ball exactly where, as a receiver, you would want it to be, and everybody's making big-time catches allowing us to be able to move the sticks. When teams are trying to take away certain players, other players gotta be able to step up, and each and every time we have a chance to do that, it only makes our offense grow and it makes our offense a lot more better.”
The victory over the Titans gives the Seahawks back-to-back wins for the first time since Weeks 7 and 8 as the team is starting to rediscover its form.
After being on a four-game losing streak, Seattle's season looked like it was slipping away, but with wins over the Philadelphia Eagles and now the Titans, they are back on track.
With the race for the playoff spots getting tighter with each passing week, what Smith was able to do in crunch time was "big time" for Lockett.
“I think that was a big-time drive for us because the season's on the line," he said. "You gotta be able to try to win out all these games if you want to be able to go to the playoffs.”
Seahawks QB Geno Smith 'In Such A Good Place'; Solidifies Reputation As NFL Starter
The Seahawks currently hold the No. 7 seed in the NFC and will likely need to win both of their remaining games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals to secure a playoff spot.
With Smith doing what he does best in crunch time, and the Seahawks rediscovering their mojo, they could be one team that no one wants to face when the playoffs roll around.
