Analyst: Steelers Make Playoffs If Kenny Pickett Does This

The Pittsburgh Steelers need their quarterback to come through with this one thing.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are 3-2 after the bye week and looking to build a second-half run that pushes them into the postseason. Despite struggles on both sides of the ball, the team is only half a game behind the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North, and one NFL analyst says they'll find their way into the playoffs if their quarterback does this one thing.

In 17 NFL games, Kenny Pickett has thrown multiple touchdowns just once. On the other hand, he's led the team to five game-winning drives.

Good Morning Football host Kyle Brandt believes if Pickett could add to his spark at the end of games, he'll lead the Steelers to the playoffs. All he needs are two touchdown drives per game.

"The offense sucks and sucks and it’s tedious, and then all of a sudden – ‘Damn Kenny where has that been!’ But what if that was on the first drive of the game and the last drive of the game?” Brandt said. "I’m not saying you gotta be four-quarters of All-Pro. But can we get two really good drives, we are surviving on bread and water with just one. I don’t need you to throw for 500 yards. Just two great touchdown drives and we can cook with this defense. Two drives Kenny, and we’ll see you in the playoffs."

The Steelers are averaging just 15.8 points per game this season, which means they're getting to that two-touchdown mark. However, a lot of that contribution has come from their defense, which might make Brandt's point even stronger.

Pickett and the offense haven't found an opening-drive groove this season, but with the second half of the year coming up, they're looking for one. If they find it consistently, one analyst believes they're playoff-bound.
