Antonio Brown Kicked Off of His Own Team's Field
PITTSBURGH -- The Albany Empire's inaugural game this week ended in an easy, 70-33 win over the Orlando Predators didn't come without controversy. Former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver and co-owner of the National Arena League's franchise was approached by security during a pregame walk around the sidelines to greet fans and instructed to leave the field.
Brown posted a video to his personal Twitter account of him walking along the back of the endzone and shaking hands with fans. After making it halfway down the line of supporters, the videographer recording Brown was also told that they needed to leave the field, to which he responded, "He owns the team." The security guard replied, "No, he doesn't," and continued to demand Brown leave.
Eventually, the security guard confronted Brown himself stepped away from the line of fans and walked toward an exit before telling the security guard "I'm going nowhere."
Brown approached the exit before insisting more strongly that he would stay on the field.
"Still I maintained a level of professionalism positivity while dealing with this security today ! First Game AS AN Owner #StayEncouraged" Brown captioned the video on Twitter.
Brown became a co-owner of the Empire in March alongside Mike Kwarta and Charlotte and Steve von Schiller. There have been public disagreements about how much of the team Brown truly owns. Brown claims he has 100% stake in the team, but reports have fluctuated from 80% to less than 50%.
