Benched: Steelers' Kenny Pickett Named Favorite to Lose Job
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have held a public vote of confidence for all of their offensive struggles, which include offensive coordinator Matt Canada and quarterback Kenny Pickett. But the odds are quickly moving away from Pickett's favor about whether or not he'll keep his job this season.
BetOnline.ag has released a new set of odds about which quarterbacks across the league are the favorite to be benched this year. Currently sitting with 10/1 odds, ranking fourth on the list, is Pittsburgh's QB, Pickett.
Pickett trails just Atlanta Falcons' Desmond Ridder (3/2), Washington Commanders' Sam Howell (2/1) and New England Patriots' Mac Jones (5/1). He's tied with Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson at 10/1 odds.
Heading into Week 5, Pickett has the sixth-worst passer rating and completion percentage amongst starting quarterbacks. The offense has scored 20-plus points just once through four games and was outscored in one of their two victories by their defense.
The Steelers do have two former starters on their roster in Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph. Trubisky was originally brought in to be the starter before being benched during Week 4 last season.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada will be on the hot seat if the team continues to struggle this season. If the group cannot find a groove, multiple changes could become an option.
