Bears Cut Former Steelers LB Buddy Johnson
PITTSBURGH -- The Chicago Bears have waived/injured former Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker Buddy Johnson, according to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson.
Johnson's release marks the end of his fourth team since joining the league in 2021. The Steelers' former fourth-round pick was cut by Pittsburgh in his second season to make room for newly-signed Myles Jack and seventh-round pick Mark Robinson. He ended up on the Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers practice squads throughout the 2022 season. He signed with the Bears this offseason.
Since being drafted, Johnson has played just four games, recording two tackles for the Steelers. He has not entered a game week on an active roster since departing Pittsburgh.
Johnson made two special teams tackles during the Bears' preseason opener. It's unknown what injury he is dealing with, but if he clears waivers, he'll revert to Chicago's injured reserve list for the upcoming season.
