Steelers Rival Deshaun Watson Struggling at Training Camp

The Pittsburgh Steelers are all smiles seeing the headlines about the Cleveland Browns quarterback.

PITTSBURGH -- There's a lot of talk about the potential of the Cleveland Browns this season, including some that make analysts wonder whether or not the Pittsburgh Steelers will be able to compete. But after a strong start to training camp, Watson hit a rough spot once another team came to town.

Deshaun Watson has plenty of hype entering the season, with expectations being high that he'll return to his old form before sitting out a season and missing 11 games for suspension in 2022. But right now, things don't look great for the former first-round pick.

According to Philly Inquirer's E.J. Smith, Watson threw three interceptions in the team's joint training camp practices with the Philadelphia Eagles. All three interceptions were to Eagles safety Reed Blankenship.

Watson started training camp with plenty of praise, receiving glowing remarks from observations after the first couple of practices. Heading into the Browns' preseason matchup with the Washington Commanders, reports said he was "dominating" the defense.

He finished the preseason opener with an impressive 3/3 completions for 12 yards and rushed for 20 yards. However, since returning to practice, that performance has sunk.

Reports claim Watson has been sacked multiple times and that the Eagles' defense "put on a show" against the Browns in joint practices.

Watson needs to rebound if the Browns are going to do anything this season. For the Steelers, they hope the struggles continue, and that their defense - who has impressed this offseason - can put up the same type of performances the Eagles are having at training camp.
