Packers Make Roster Move Before Steelers Game

The Green Bay Packers make a move before kickoff with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Green Bay Packers have added one player to their roster ahead of kickoff with the Pittsburgh Steelers. While the team looks to deal with multiple injuries, they've elevated a safety for added depth in the secondary.

The Packers announced they have signed Innis Gaines off of their practice squad to their 53-man roster just before they traveled to Pittsburgh to meet the Steelers.

Gaines has appeared in 11 games for the Packers since signing in early 2021. He's played three games for Green Bay this season, and in his career as a Packer, he has recorded 10 tackles - four on defense and six on special teams.

Since Gaines has already been called up three times this season, the Packers needed to sign him to make him eligible to play again this week.

The Packers are banged up in the secondary heading into Week 10. Starting safety Darnell Savage is on Injured Reserve, and other starter Rudy Ford is questionable. Their starting cornerbacks Jaire Alexander (doubtful) and Eric Stokes (questionable) are also likely to miss the game.
