Insider: Second Postponement in Play for Steelers Game
BUFFALO -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to play the Buffalo Bills on Monday, January 15 after the NFL postponed the Wild Card game one day due to dangerous weather conditions. But with the snow continuing to pile up and a travel ban still in place in the city, one league insider believes the game could be moved a second time.
CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones said on the station's pregame show that it's still "very much in play" for the game to be pushed back another day and played on Tuesday, January 16.
"There’s going to be more snow, and if it is bad, can you get that snow? I’m just going to say this, while it is scheduled Monday at 4:30, if this weather continues to be bad, as they could predict, I don’t know if it is absolutely going to be played Monday at 4:30," Jones said.
Orchard Park is expected to accumulate 12 to 24 inches of snow before kickoff at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Winds are still expected to reach gusts of 50 miles per hour, and travel conditions could still make coming in and out of the game too dangerous for fans.
Earlier reports also claim a change to Tuesday is a possibility for the Steelers and Bills.
Meanwhile, the Steelers are still working on getting to the city of Buffalo. Currently, the team is scheduled to leave at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 14. Their departure, or none departure could be a significant factor in the league's decision to make a second postponement.
