Joey Porter Jr. Intercepts First Pass With Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers rookie found his first interception in his first NFL game.

PITTSBURGH -- The celebration on the sideline could not be bigger after Pittsburgh Steelers rookie Joey Porter Jr. secured the first interception of his NFL career.

The second-round pick came up with the football on a pass from Buffalo Bills quarterback Matt Barkley. A ball intended for Khalil Shakir was a little ahead, and Porter made sure to locate the pass and came down with it.

Porter made it known at training camp that he would showcase his hands during his rookie season. Despite having just one interception in college, the Penn State product knew he could create interceptions, and took that to the field in his first NFL game.

After his interception, he gave the ball to his dad in the stands.

Porter is expected to contribute on the outside this season, and seeing him record his first pick had to feel promising for the Steelers. He'll work behind Patrick Peterson and Levi Wallace, and should have a significant role as a depth piece.

If he continues to make plays like he did in just his first NFL game, the Steelers are in good shape.
