Kirk Cousins' Team Believes Steelers Could Happen

The Pittsburgh Steelers could be the top spot for Kirk Cousins.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for an additional quarterback this offseason. It may not be a big, splashy signing or trade, but if the right opportunity presents itself, that could change - and one star passer is keeping an eye on their situation.

According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is "keeping an eye on" the Steelers as a potential landing spot this offseason.

"I was talking to some people last week who seem to be intrigued at the possibility of the Steelers making a play for Kirk Cousins," Florio said. "And those people were very to if not within the Kirk Cousins camp. There’s an acknowledgment that it could happen. The Falcons and the Steelers are the two teams that I think the Cousins camp is keeping an eye on."

Cousins is coming off an achilles injury but is still expected to sign for roughly $40 million per season. The four-time Pro Bowler wouldn't be much of a risk, even outside of the injury, as he's proven for 12 years now that he's capable of winning in the NFL.

If the Steelers catch wind Cousins would sign, they may try to clear as much space as possible, but sitting roughly $4 million over the salary cap prior to free agency, it would take a lot of moves to come up with the money needed for Cousins.
