Mojo is Back: Kenny Pickett, Steelers Offense Finally Arrive
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers offense finally found their spark, and for the first time in the young season, found enough success to walk away from a game feeling as if they're headed in the right direction.
Following their 23-18 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, the Steelers' offense feels like a group that's back on track after failing to do much in their first two games. Behind quarterback Kenny Pickett, the group totaled 17 first downs and 333 yards on their way to a 2-1 record.
"I think we're on track to getting it back. It's never a perfect game. There are things we wished we had back and there's plays where that's always going to be the case. But I think we're definitely getting towards that step that we needed to have it back," Pickett said.
Before the game, head coach Mike Tomlin said the offense "lost their mojo" and needed to find it moving forward. After the Raiders game, he said the offense impressed, and Pickett agreed.
"Staying ahead of the chains and being able to be aggressive in second and short situations when you have a successful first down run or pass, it’s huge and you're able to kind of get to the playbook that we haven't been able to get to these past couple of weeks," Pickett said. "So, it was awesome to be able to go out there and show all the stuff that we know that we can do and that we have in our playbook."
The Steelers will need to continue their offensive success, but leaving Las Vegas, they sit first in the AFC North with their best performance of the season.
