Steelers Add LB to Roster for Bengals Game
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers added an inside linebacker to their Week 12 roster, elevating rookie Tariq Carpenter to the active/inactive list for their matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Steelers will elevate Carpenter for a third-straight game. Under the NFL’s practice squad rules, this is the last time they can elevate him before having to sign him to the 53-man roster.
The undrafted rookie out of Georgia Tech is continuing to learn the inside linebacker position after moving down from safety. He’s been a contributor on special teams during these last three weeks.
Pittsburgh signed Blake Martinez to their active roster off of the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad. But with the elevation of Carpenter, it appears Martinez will wait to make his Steelers debut.
Pittsburgh did not elevate any other players, meaning Eric Rowe and Myles Jack, who been signed to the practice squad this week, will not be on the roster for Week 12.
