Steelers Keep RB Sidelined Another Week

Anthony McFarland's return to the Pittsburgh Steelers will have to wait.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will keep running back and kick returner Anthony McFarland sidelined for another week as they head to Los Angeles without activating him from Injured Reserve.

McFarland was put on IR in Week 2 after suffering a knee injury early in the season. He returned to practice this week following the bye, opening his 21-day window to be added back to the active roster. However, the Steelers have decided not to add him back to the team for their Week 7 matchup with the Rams.

Pittsburgh now has two more weeks to activate the fourth-year runner before he'll be shut down for the remainder of the season.

McFarland caught two passes for 11 yards and had three kick returns for 91 yards in the season opener.

Pittsburgh also released wide receiver Gunner Olszewski, who took over as the team's kick returner in McFarland's absence. Without either of them, Calvin Austin and Godwin Igwebuike are candidates to return kicks.
