Steelers Avoid Fines by NFL

The Pittsburgh Steelers switched the trend they've set this season.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers turned the narrative on what has been an upsetting season in terms of fines handed out by the NFL. After being the most fined team heading into Week 10, the Steelers did not receive any fines from the league for their performance in Week 9 against the Tennessee Titans.

Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson was hit with a $25,000 fine heading into the week for his words on the officials following the team's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars the week prior. For against the Titans, Pittsburgh walked away without any money being taken out of their pockets - a trend that has hit some players pretty severely this season.

Highlighted by running back Jaylen Warren, who has been fined over $90,000 despite making just about $800,000 this season, the league has handed out over $3 million in fines in 2022. Pittsburgh has been on the receiving end of those penalties nearly every week except this one.

Instead, offensive guard Isaac Seumalo won the NFL's Way to Play award, given to the player who demonstrated the correct way to execute a play during a game.

Players can appeal fines, and most times, they are reduced. But no one would argue that being fine-free is the best way to walk away from a game, especially a victory.
