Steelers OT Broderick Jones Suffers Ankle Injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers are dealing with a new injury they'll hope isn't serious.

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers rookie offensive tackle Broderick Jones is dealing with an ankle injury that will be monitored closely throughout the week. As the team began preparation for Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals, Jones popped up on the team's practice report, along with several other players.

Jones was limited in practice, meaning the injury was lingering or occurred during the practice itself. Head coach Mike Tomlin did not mention the rookie right tackle when running through his list of injuries at the beginning of the week.

The Steelers are also dealing with a number of other injuries on offense, with tight end Pat Freiermuth being limited with a knee injury, quarterback Kenny Pickett being limited as he returns from an ankle injury, and guard Isaac Seumalo (shoulder) and running back Najee Harris (knee) being held out of practice.

On defense, the Steelers were without Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee) and Trenton Thompson (neck), and has Cam Heyward (concussion) and Elijah Riley (ankle) limited.

The Steelers will hold two more practices and a walk-through before taking on the Bengals. During that time, they'll hope at least some of their injured players are able to return to the field.

So far, Fitzpatrick has been ruled out and Mason Rudolph has been ruled the starter at quarterback.
