Steelers DT Cam Heyward Suffers Groin Injury vs. 49ers

The Pittsburgh Steelers lose their defensive captain.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered their first injury of the season as defensive tackle Cam Heyward left early in Week 1 with a groin injury, the team announced.

Heyward got up slowly following a play in the first quarter. He made his way over to the sideline where he briefly chatted with trainers. He went back into the game but only for a few plays before jogging back to the bench where he was once against met by staff.

The team then announced Heyward suffered a groin injury and is questionable to return for the remainder of the game.

Without Heyward, the Steelers will turn to Isaiahh Loudermilk and DeMarvin Leal along the defensive line. Rookie Keeanu Benton is also available but has played mostly at nose tackle throughout the preseason.

All Steelers will continue to provide updates on Heyward's injury as they become available.
