Former Steelers' Chase Claypool Testing Position Change
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers walked away big winners for their trade of Chase Claypool. After just 11 games, Claypool is onto his third team, joining the Miami Dolphins in a swap with the Chicago Bears, who sent Pittsburgh a second-round pick for him.
The first question many had after the trade is whether or not Claypool will make his way onto the field for the Dolphins. After being inactive the last two weeks, and struggling this season in the Bears offense, there were debates on if the wide receiver could earn a helmet on gamedays for Miami.
He could, but maybe not at wide receiver.
According to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones, Claypool could test out playing at tight end with the Dolphins.
"I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mike McDaniels get creative with Claypool and use him sometimes, maybe as a tight end with that 6’4 frame. The Dolphins love to get creative, it could be possible," Jones said.
Coming out of college, Claypool was thought of as a tight end by some analysts. His 6'4 frame does make him one of the tallest receiving options in Miami with Choosen Anderson.
