Steelers Could Consider Arthur Smith For OC Job

The Pittsburgh Steelers could look at the former Atlanta Falcons head coach to be their next play-caller.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are continuing their offensive coordinator search, adding two interviews to their big board, with the expectation more are coming. And one name to keep an eye on is former Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith.

Smith's name has been a hot once since his departure from the Falcons. The long-time Tennessee Titans coach has quickly emerged as one of the most sought-after offensive coordinator candidates on the market, with reports claiming as many as seven teams having interest in him.

As the Steelers bring in more names for their candidacy, don't be surprised if Smith's comes up. The former OC for the Titans had plenty of success with Derrick Henry, and a running game as strong as his with Tennessee may be exactly what Pittsburgh is looking for.

The 41-year-old also has connections with the Steelers. During his time in Tennessee, he worked with former Pittsburgh offensive line coach Mike Munchak, defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau and head coaches Mike Mularkey and Ken Whisenhunt. All of whom are well respected names within the Steelers organization.

The Steelers will head to Mobile, Alabama to scout the Senior Bowl, and are expected to continue searching for offensive coordinators while down there. Whether it's before, during or after, Smith could be a name that appears on Pittsburgh's radar.
