Steelers Foes Bengals Could Lose QB Joe Burrow
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers rival the Cincinnati Bengals could lose quarterback Joe Burrow for at least four weeks as they consider placing him on Injured Reserve, according to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones.
Burrow suffered a calf injury during training camp and missed the entire preseason because of it. He then re-injured the same calf during Week 2 and said he'd take it day by day.
According to Jones, if Burrow does go on IR, it'll be short-term, with the expectation that he'll return in four games to play against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8.
Burrow came into the weekend listed as questionable for the team’s Week 3 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams. There was some belief he’d be able to play, but it’s now more likely he’ll miss extended time.
Without Burrow, the Bengals would turn to Jake Browning as the starter with A.J. McCarron, who just recently signed to the practice squad, as their backup.
