Steelers Won't Hold Back in Preseason Finale

The Pittsburgh Steelers won't use the Falcons game to rest starters.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers raced out to a quick 14-0 lead against the Buffalo Bills and never looked back. With the offense firing on all cylinders and the defense shutting down Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs and company, head coach Mike Tomlin saw all he needed to from his starters, so took them out after just two drives.

Typically, the second-to-last preseason game serves as a dry run for the regular season and the preseason finale is rest week for those in big roles, but the Steelers will deviate from that script. Tomlin said on the television broadcast of the Bills game that he pulled his starters early so they could play next week against the Atlanta Falcons.

The starting offense played one series in Preseason Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and many more starters - particularly on defense - sat out the game entirely.

With the Bills also sending out their starters for much of the first quarter at Acrisure Stadium, the Steelers first team was dominant. They found the endzone twice on offense and forced three straight punts from the high-powered Bills offense.

And with Tomlin's plan in place, they'll get a chance to keep the momentum alive during their trip to Atlanta.
