Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr. Responds to Tyler Boyd's Critcism

The Bengald wide receiver took a shot at the culture of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are dealing with plenty of criticism from the outside, as analysts, former players and now current rivals are questioning their culture, or lack thereof. And after wide receiver George Pickens's had his words go viral, Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tyler Boyd gave his thoughts on Pittsburgh's struggles.

Pickens made the comment that he chose not to block on a running play that nearly resulted in a touchdown if not for Pickens's defender making the tackle. Why? Because he didn't want to risk injury.

"I was just trying to prevent the Tank Dell situation, the same thing that happened to (him)," Pickens said. "I ain't want to get an injury. When you stay on the block too low, you can get ran up on very easily."

Then, Bengals' Boyd reacted to those words, calling out the Steelers' locker room and lack of "camaraderie."

"It just shows the lack of camaraderie that’s over there," Boyd told ESPN's Ben Baby. "I can’t really talk for anybody, but like when things ain’t going well, you still gotta perform at a high level and do what you can to help your team. I saw a clip with him on a pick, it kind of looked like he wasn’t trying to chase it down. See, I don’t go about that. That’s something that they got to deal with. When things ain’t going good, that’s when your true colors show. I like to be the same player week in, week out, whether it’s going good or bad for me."

When asked about Boyd's comments, Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. assured that the Bengals wideout doesn't know what the culture of the team is because he's not in the locker room.

"He wouldn’t know. He’s not in this locker room. His opinion doesn’t matter," Porter Jr. "... I feel he got a misread on it. He’s not in the locker room, so he doesn’t know what’s going on in the locker room."

The Steelers are Bengals will matchup in Week 16 for the second time this season. Pittsburgh currently holds a 1-0 series lead and will need to sweep the season series in order to keep their playoff hopes alive heading in these final three weeks.
