Steelers QB Kenny Pickett to Undergo Surgery
PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett will undergo surgery on his injured ankle that will keep him out 2-4 weeks, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac.
The Steelers initially feared the worst for Pickett, believing surgery could shut him down for the remainder of the season. Now, the belief is he'll return within a month as he undergoes a procedure on his ankle early this week.
Pickett's return will bring him back just in time for the end of the season and into the playoffs. As of now, Pittsburgh is in the AFC playoff picture, but will need to add more wins to their season total if they'd like to stay there.
If Pickett returns in four weeks, it would come around the Steelers Week 17 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks or Week 18 game against the Baltimore Ravens.
In the meantime, the Steelers will turn to Mitch Trubisky as their starter with Mason Rudolph operating as the backup. Trubisky is 2-3 as the Steelers starter, throwing six touchdowns and seven interceptions during his career with Pittsburgh.
