Steelers Lose DB to Colts

The Pittsburgh Steelers will look to replace another safety after the move.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will look to replace defensive back Henry Black after the Indianapolis Colts poached him from their practice squad ahead of Week 17, the team announced.

Black joined the Steelers practice squad on Nov. 21 but did not appear in a game during his time in Pittsburgh. He was formerly with the Colts this season prior to being released in late October. Now, he'll rejoin their active roster for the remainder of the regular season.

Black was an undrafted free agent in 2020 when he signed the Green Bay Packers for his rookie season. He played 25 games in Green Bay, contributing to both their defense and special teams.

He then bounced around from the New York Giants to the Atlanta Falcons before eventually landing in Indy.

The Steelers will now look to replace Black, who provided some much-needed depth to their scout team. With practice squad member Eric Rowe being called on to start in place of a suspended Damontae Kazee and injured Minkah Fitzpatrick and Trenton Thompson, Pittsburgh is limited with their safeties in Week 17.
