Steelers OC Matt Canada Hits Unthinkable Milestone

The Pittsburgh Steelers offense has struggled - pretty badly.

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers offense has struggled with Matt Canada as their offensive coordinator, but how bad it’s been may be somewhat surprising.

Since taking over the job in 2021, Canada has led the group to score more than 20 points in four quarters of football just nine times. After the Steelers' 30-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the offense is now 27 of 36 games without hitting the 20-point mark.

It doesn’t end there, though. The group has also been unable to collect yards. In those 36 games, the Steelers offense has never surpassed the 400-yard mark. Not once.

Against the 49ers, they totalled 239 yards.

The Steelers have held true to their offensive coordinator for three years, but with the belief that his contract ends at the end of the season, it's now or never for Canada - most likely.

The Steelers showed signs of life during the preseason, scoring five touchdowns on five drives with their starters on the field. That ended immediately once the 49ers came to town, but the group still believes they'll be fine.

If they're going to be, chances are they need to snap a streak that seems very alarming on paper.
