Steelers' Najee Harris Shouts Out Jaguars WR
PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris is going to use Travis Etienne as added motivation this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The top two running backs in the 2021 NFL Draft will meet in Week 8, and Harris knows he'll be looking to prove he's the top dog in the class.
"He's a good player. Him and Trevor [Lawrence] coming out of Clemson. Both really talented guys coming from a talented program. They really changed that program around in Jacksonville. They're doing really good.
"It's a good battle. I always take everything as competition."
Harris is also excited to see another player on Jacksonville's offense. While he won't be using his former teammate as added motivation, he's just thrilled to see Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley at Acrisure Stadium.
"Shout out to Calvin [Ridley]. That's my guy, right there," Harris said. "Boy, I'm glad to see you back on the field, doing your thing. Can't wait to play against you too."
Ridley and Harris played together in 2017 on Alabama's National Championship team.
Ridley left for the NFL Draft after the season, where he was a first-round pick. The former Atlanta Falcon stepped away from the game in 2021 to deal with personal issues and was then suspended indefinitely in 2022 for violating the league's gambling policy. He was reinstated after missing the 2022 season.
This season, Ridley has caught 27 passes for 368 yards and two touchdowns, and will be a key part of Jacksonville's offense that Pittsburgh will look to shut down.
