Steelers Now Expected to Avoid DeAndre Hopkins

The Pittsburgh Steelers get some relief in the DeAndre Hopkins race.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers were once a team who looked to compete with DeAndre Hopkins at least twice a season. With expectations of him landing with the Baltimore Ravens or the Cleveland Browns fading, the new favorite to land the All-Pro receiver doesn't hurt the black and gold - as much.

BetUS currently has the Steelers avoiding an AFC North splash, with the Buffalo Bills now being the favorite to land Hopkins with +300 odds of signing the former Arizona Cardinal.

"From our Regular Season Wins market to our Super Bowl futures, a player of Hopkins' caliber can tip the scales significantly," Tim Williams, director of public affairs for BetUS, said in a press release. "Currently, our 'Buffalo Bills - 2023-2024 Regular Season Wins' market stands at 10½ wins. Meanwhile, the Bills are tied for second place in Super Bowl LVIII futures at +800 (8/1). If Hopkins joins the team, these numbers could see some exciting changes."

The Steelers could meet the Bills during the playoffs, but in the regular season, they won't have to matchup with Hopkins to try and fight their way into the postseason.

With Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs already making life difficult for many in the AFC, adding a future Hall of Famer in Hopkins isn't the best-case scenario. But avoiding the division certainly helps the Steelers as they look to return to the top of the AFC North.
