Steelers Predicted to Land Justin Fields in Trade
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers and Justin Fields are a name to begin watching closely. Over the last several days, the thought of Pittsburgh acquiring the Chicago Bears quarterback has ramped up, and there is now a projected trade out there that makes plenty of sense.
Pro Football Focus laid out their projected moves this offseason, which starts with the Steelers trading for Fields.
PFF has the Steelers sending a 2024 second-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick to Chicago in exchange for Fields. Pittsburgh would take on the last year of his rookie contract in 2024 and then his fifth-year option in 2025.
"Pittsburgh is one team looking for a legitimate competition at quarterback this offseason, with 2022 first-round quarterback Kenny Pickett not making the strides they’d hoped through two years, getting supplanted late in the season by third-stringer Mason Rudolph. Fields’ elite athleticism adds an entirely different dynamic to a Steelers offense that was quite stale in 2023, and he opens up the downfield passing game that has been lacking," PFF writes.
The Steelers are the odds-on favorites to land Fields this offseason, and reportedly have plenty of fans of the young quarterback within their front office and coaching staff.
With a second-round pick on the line, Pittsburgh could look at the move as an easy call, and at just 24 years old, Fields could be the splash this team is ready to make this offseason.
