Steelers Sign 17 Players to Futures Deals
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have inked several played to Reserve/Futures contracts as they begin filling out their roster for the 2024 summer. According to the NFL's transaction wire, the team signed 17 players.
The team signed cornerback Luq Barqoo, offensive tackle Tyler Beach, wide receiver Marquez Callaway, fullback Jack Colleto, offensive tackle Kellen Diesch, safety Jalen Elliott, offensive lineman Joey Fisher, wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick, offensive tackle Devery Hamilton, offensive tackle Anderson Hardy, wide receiver Keilahn Harris, defensive tackle Jonathan Marshall, center Ryan McCollum, wide receiver Denzel Mims, running back Aaron Shampklin, defensive lineman Jacob Slade, and wide receiver Duece Watts.
Barqoo, Colleto, Diesch, Elliott, Fisher, Fitzpatrick, Marshall, McCollum, Mims and Watts were all part of the Steelers practice squad during the season. Fitzpatrick was also signed to the active roster for multiple weeks while Diontae Johnson recovered from a hamstring injury.
Callaway was an undrafted free agent who signed with the New Orleans Saints in 2020. In 2021, he led the team in receiving yards (698) and receiving touchdowns (six).
Harris was an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma Baptist who spent the season on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad. In college, he played 34 games, catching 196 balls for 2,510 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also returned 70 kicks for 1,570 yards and a touchdown.
Shampkin spent time with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023 and spent part of the 2022 season with the Indianapolis Colts. The Harvard product was a two-time All-Ivy League selection.
Slade comes from Michigan State and spent part of the 2023 season on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad. He recorded 88 tackles, including 11.5 for a loss, four sacks, four passes defensed and a fumble recovery with the Spartans.
Hardy signed with the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad this season as an undrafted rookie out of Appalachian State. Hamilton, who played some of his college ball at Stanford and the rest at Duke, has NFL experience with the New York Giants, and has also spent time on the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad.
Beach spent the 2023 season on the Houston Texans practice squad. The 2021 All-Big Ten third-team selection comes from Wisconsin.
