PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have dealt with internal issues throughout the season as wide receiver George Pickens lashed out a few times through social media and during interviews with the media.

At one point this season, Pickens was the center of attention with his actions on the sideline and lack of effort on the field captivating headlines and causing concern about his mindset in helping the Steelers win. And during his difficulties this season, he's accumulated roughly $200,000 in fines through both the league and the team, according to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones.

"A source says Pickens has been fined at or above $200,000 this year by the NFL and the Steelers combined, a larger-than-average figure for any player regardless of contract status," Jones writes.

The NFL has publicly fined Pickens $33,441 for unnecessary roughness. This season, Pickens was set to make $1.318 as the second-year portion of his rookie contract.

According to the report, Pickens has turned a corner in trying to right his reputation with the team.

"He's in a much better place," one source told Jones. "He's doing everything asked of him."

Head coach Mike Tomlin said during his most recent press conference that he's moved on from the Pickens issues earlier in the season and that Pickens has done the same. Over the last three games of the year, the second-year wideout accumulated two 100-yard games to help the Steelers earn a playoff birth.
