PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing former Arizona Cardinals linebacker Markus Golden to a one-year deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Golden comes to Pittsburgh after spending seven of his nine-year career with the Cardinals. The other two seasons were spent with the New York Giants.

Golden started 51 games for the Cardinals and contributed 35.5 sacks and 97 QB hits. He's recorded 47 sacks and 130 QB hits in his career.

He now enters a linebacker room that consists of T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith but is looking for reliable depth behind them. The Steelers drafted Nick Herbig in the fourth round this spring, but will likely look at Golden as the primary backup with veteran experience.

Quincy Roche and Toby Ndukwe are also on the roster. Pittsburgh typically brings four outside linebackers into the regular season, meaning one will need to be out Herbig or Golden for a spot.
