PITTSBURGH -- Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Steven Sims is headed back to his hometown to visit the Houston Texans as he explores his options in free agency.

The Steelers chose not to tender Sims, allowing him to hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent. According to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson, the wide receiver/return specialist is meeting with the Texans.

Sims played 12 games last season after replacing Gunner Olszewski as the punt and kick returner. He averaged 25.5 yards per kick return while catching 14 passes for 104 yards.

Sims is just 25 years old will not hold an expensive market in free agency. He's played 41 games during his time with the Washington Commanders and Steelers.

Currently, the Steelers have Diontae Johnson, George Pickens, Calvin Austin III and Olszewski on the roster as wide receivers.
