Steelers Remain Stuck in Kansas City
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are still trying to get home after their plane had to emergency land in Kansas City on their way back from Las Vegas in Week 3. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the team remains grounded at Kansas City International Airport, with hopes of returning at some point today.
The team had to divert to Kansas City after an oil pressure failure in one of the engines, according to KDKA. They grounded just before 5 a.m. and have been awaiting a new plane since. Pelissero reports the hope is for a new plane to get to them shortly with a departure time around 11:30 a.m. CT, 12:30 p.m. ET.
Team spokesperson Burt Lauten confirmed the team was diverted this morning and that no injuries occurred during the trip.
The Steelers were originally scheduled to land in Pittsburgh at 5 a.m. following their win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Head coach Mike Tomlin has given players the day off as they adjust to the flight delays.
