Steelers LB T.J. Watt Suffers Heel Injury
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers defense added a concerning injury as linebacker T.J. Watt was added to the practice report with a heel issue.
Watt did not practice on Thursday due to the injury. He was a full participant the day prior. It’s unknown if the injury occurred in a practice earlier in the week, is lingering from a past game or was new, today.
The Steelers are also dealing with an injury to outside linebacker Nick Herbig, who has been limited throughout the week with a groin ailment.
As of now, Watt’s injury is simply something to monitor, but if it becomes a bigger issue, the team could possibly be down two outside linebackers against the Los Angeles Rams.
Without Watt, Markus Golden would start opposite of Alex Highsmith. Undrafted rookie David Perales would be considered as a call-up from the practice squad if needed.
Outside of Watt and Herbig, the Steelers only other injury was tight end Pat Freiermuth, who was limited due to a lingering hamstring injury.
