Steelers' T.J. Watt Hit With Multiple Fines By NFL
PITTSBURGH -- The NFL hit Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt with two fines for his actions in the team's Week 5 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
The league announced Watt was fined $13,659 for taking his helmet off following a game-winning sack against Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. He was also fined $11,473 for a play against wide receiver Zay Flowers, where Watt's first made contact with Flower's helmet.
Watt was not flagged for either penalty during the game, but the NFL administered the fines afterward. In the play where he removed his helmet, the action happened after the play, so it would not have caused a change in the outcome from the sack.
As for his hit on Flowers, a viral video has spread of Watt punching at Flowers as he's attempting to make a catch. The purpose of Watt's actions was to hit the ball out of the receiver's hands, but it hit the helmet instead.
Watt was the only Steeler fined this week after several multiple-fine weeks by the team.
