PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are trading quarterback Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for draft picks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Pickett is entering his third season in the NFL and was set to compete with Russell Wilson for the starting job in 2024. However, the team has now moved on, sending Pickett to Philadelphia and seemingly making Wilson their starting quarterback this season.

According to Schefter, the Steelers will receive the No. 98 pick and two 2025 seventh-round pick in exchange for Pickett and the No. 120 pick.

Pickett, 25, was the team's first-round pick in 2022 and has started 24 games, going 14-10 as their starter. He's thrown for 4,474 yards and 13 touchdowns but has also thrown 13 interceptions.

With Pickett gone, the Steelers are left with just Wilson as their quarterback. They'll likely look to add another option in free agency and could look at the NFL Draft for a rookie backup.

Wilson signed a one-year deal in Pittsburgh worth $1.2 million. He'd need to sign an extension after the season if the Steelers want him to remain their starter moving forward.
