Steelers Very Interested in Top ILB

The Pittsburgh Steelers are really focused on one inside linebacker in the NFL Draft.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will be looking to fill a few holes on defense this offseason, one being their inside linebacker position. According to one report, they are heavily interested in a backer out of Texas A&M.

According to The Draft Network's Ryan Fowler, the Steelers met with Texas A&M linebacker Edgerrin Cooper multiple times while down at the East-West Shrine Bowl. Fowler says Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin "loves" Cooper's game.

Cooper finished his college career with 204 tackles, 30.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, two interceptions, eight passes defensed, two fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles. In his final season with the Aggies, he finished with 17 tackles for loss, eight sacks and 84 tackles.

The Steelers still have Elandon Roberts and Cole Holcomb under contract in 2024, and Mark Robinson will enter his third season on his rookie contract.

Cooper is considered the second-best inside linebacker in the NFL Draft and could be an option in the second round for the Steelers.
