Former Steelers WR Steals Show in USFL Championship

One former Pittsburgh Steelers player stole the show in the USFL title game.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Birmingham Stallions walked away as the USFL Champions, defeating the Pittsburgh Maulers 28-12 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. And a former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver stole the show with a huge performance in the final game.

Former Steelers wideout Deon Cain finished the championship game with three touchdowns, handing the Stallions a 14-9 lead by halftime, with only three total receptions by the midway point. His third came in the fourth quarter to put the game on ice with 6:40 on the clock.

He finished the night with 70 receiving yards and 101 kick return yards.

Cain played eight games for the Steelers in 2019 and 2020, including three starts. He has 15 NFL games under his belt, recording nine receptions for 124 yards. He's spent time on the Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles practice squads since leaving Pittsburgh.

Cain finished the USFL season with 16 receptions, 182 yards and two touchdowns.

At just 26 years old, he's eligible to sign with another NFL team and compete for a roster spot during training camp. While a return to the Steelers is always an option, the team currently has 13 wide receivers on their 90-man roster.
