Steelers Work Out Former Commanders CB
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are doing their due diligence in the secondary, bringing in former Washington Commanders cornerback Rachad Wildgoose for a workout, according to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson.
Wildgoose, a sixth-round pick for the Buffalo Bills in 2021, spent the 2023 season with the Commanders, playing 15 games, including three starts. He finished the year with three pass deflections and allowed a 59.6% completion percentage on 11 completions.
The year prior, he played five games as a rookie for the New York Jets.
The former sixth-round pick could be an option for the Steelers secondary or as an addition to their practice squad. With the development of Joey Porter Jr., the starting rotation is in question from analysts, but within the team, it appears no change will be made.
Rookie Darius Rush was recently signed off of the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad and will need to be on the active roster for at least another three games.
James Pierre, Chandon Sullivan and Elijah Riley round out the depth chart, but have all played some role on either defense or special teams this season.
