Report: Steelers Expected to Pursue Titans QB
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for veteran competition this offseason, signing another quarterback to compete with third-year first-round pick Kenny Pickett. One option that has emerged is former Tennessee Titans starter Ryan Tannehill, who is believed to be on Pittsburgh's radar.
According to NFL Network insiders Tom Pelissero, Mike Garrafolo, and Ian Rapoport, the Steelers are expected to make Ryan Tannehill one of their top targets this offseason after they hired his former offensive coordinator, Arthur Smith.
“With new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, the expectation is Pittsburgh will explore adding free agent Ryan Tannehill, who had his best years with the Titans while Smith was the OC there," NFL Network writes.
The Steelers have expressed that Mason Rudolph is their top option for competition against Pickett, but the insiders have also reported he's looking for a "fresh start" in free agency.
If Rudolph does head elsewhere, Tannehill's connection with Smith could lead him to Pittsburgh. During their time together in Tennessee, the Titans fought their way to the AFC Championship and Tannehill won Comeback Player of the Year.
As a starter in Tennessee, Tannehill went 39-24, throwing for 93 touchdowns and 40 interceptions.
