Report: Steelers Express Interest in Bears Trade
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of three teams interested in acquiring quarterback Justin Fields through a trade with the Chicago Bears, according to USA Today Sports.
As they depart the NFL Combine, the Steelers join the Atlanta Falcons and Las Vegas Raiders as the three organizations to speak with Chicago. According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Bears were looking to have trade talks during the week, and Pittsburgh seemingly joined in.
"A person familiar with the situation told USA TODAY Sports that the Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders have expressed some level of interest in Fields," USA Today Sports writes.
General manager Omar Khan was asked about a trade for Fields during his media availability at the NFL Combine, and didn't shoot down the idea.
“I’m not going to go into details about the conversations we’ve had," Khan said. "But as I mentioned earlier, I can tell you that I have an obligation to look at every avenue to make us a better football team."
As of now, it's believed whatever team lands Fields will be giving up a second or third-round NFL Draft pick, but would also have to make the decision on whether or not they'd pick up his fifth-year option.
