Report: 49ers Enter Mix for Lamar Jackson Trade

The Baltimore Ravens may have a new name in the conversation for Lamar Jackson.

PITTSBURGH -- The Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson don't appear to be any closer on an end to their contract disagreements, but with the NFL Draft closing in and trades starting to heat up, one team appears to have entered the conversation for the quarterback.

According to radio host Dan Patrick, the San Francisco 49ers are the latest team to explore a possible trade for Jackson.

Patrick said on his show that the 49ers "monitored everything, including Lamar Jackson, they explored that, or at least looked at that, they kicked the tires on that. And of course, you should do that, always try to improve."

With Jackson under the non-exclusive franchise tag, the Ravens would have an opportunity to match any offer given to the quarterback. If they match it, Jackson has a new long-term deal. If they do not, they'll receive two first-round picks from Jackson's new team.

It appears nothing happened at the time when the 49ers thought about the trade, but with Trey Lance reportedly on the market and the NFL Draft about to happen, it shouldn't be ruled out that a quarterback move could be made.

For the Pittsburgh Steelers, they might not fear Lance as much as Jackson, if that would be part of the trade. But as it appears right now, it doesn't feel very likely Jackson suits up for the Ravens this season anyways.
