Travis Kelce Praises Steelers New QB

Travis Kelce had big things to say about the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will have a quarterback competition on their hands once training camp opens this summer. After signing Russell Wilson to a one-year deal, the team is now expecting to test both he and Kenny Pickett, allowing the better or the two to win the starting job this season.

Wilson is coming off a 3,070-yard season with 26 touchdowns. Despite finishing the year 7-8 as the starter, there haven't been many negative reactions to the signing - and many believe it's an opportunity for the Steelers to get better offensively.

That includes Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who praised the Steelers' new quarterback during the latest episode of the Kelce brothers' podcast New Heights

"He was still balling in Denver at times," Kelce said. "I've seen him dice up some teams and make some good throws. I mean, we lost to Denver in Denver last years. ... I think Russ has a lot of good football left in him, man. Obviously, he's got that 'it' factor about him that we've seen so many times. Sure enough, he'll bring some veteran presence to that locker room, and we all know how good of a coach [Mike] Tomlin is and how good that defense is. Steelers definitely got better for sure."

Wilson won't be handed anything in Pittsburgh, but the nine-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion likely have some leg up in the competition, even if the Steelers hope Pickett progresses.

If he does start, Kelce will see if his prediction of an improved team is correct first-hand when the Kansas City Chiefs come to Pittsburgh in 2024.
