Ravens Are Really Going to Let Lamar Jackson Leave
PITTSBURGH -- The Baltimore Ravens are going to make the AFC North much easier for teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers. With their deadline inching closer on Lamar Jackson's future, they're about to make the easiest but worts decision about their quarterback position.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Ravens are expected to non-exclusive franchise tag Jackson, leaving the door wide open for another team to swoop in and sign him. That gives Baltimore two first-round draft picks, but they lose their quarterback, which isn't a win for the Ravens.
While some want to blame Jackson's demands on why a new deal isn't getting done, the Ravens shouldn't blame anyone but themselves for not being ready for this decision. If they took the necessary steps the last five years, this offseason wouldn't be as detrimental whether they kept Jackson or not.
This one is on the Ravens.
