Mike Tomlin Leaving Steelers? No Chance
PITTSBURGH -- Let's talk about the speculation regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers and their head coach. Apparently, there are rumbles around the league that Mike Tomlin would step away from the team in pursuit of two things. Both make little to no sense.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Tomlin could consider walking away from football for a year to take some time off. He could also consider a change of scenery, looking to go back home to the Washington Commanders or out west to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Really?
While there are links to both spots, it feels like after 17 years in a city, after you've raised some children here, it's most likely your "home." And as for Los Angeles, Schefter says Tomlin's wife likes it there, and therefore, they'd consider it.
Maybe.
When it comes to taking a year off, anyone who has spent maybe 10 minutes around Tomlin in a locker room can tell you he's not going anywhere. He's got more energy today than when I first walked into UPMC Rooney Sports Complex five years ago.
So, can we put the "Tomlin is leaving" speculation to bed yet?
