Steelers NFL Draft Plans Included Keanu Neal Before He Signed
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers weren't preparing for a different safety to join the mix this offseason. From the moment head coach Mike Tomlin said they were going to add another safety, everyone assumed it was the NFL Draft. It wasn't, and the Steelers knew that all along.
So, what changes after the signing when it comes to the Steelers' NFL Draft strategy? Nothing.
Pittsburgh has shown their hand the entire draft process and we've been ignoring it. Many, including myself, have touched on certain players filling the specific need the Steelers are trying to fill, but it was only a glimpse before moving toward talk of safety.
Meanwhile, the Steelers were telling us exactly how they planned to approach the defensive backfield this offseason, and how they will continue to do so during the NFL Draft.
Pittsburgh's plans were in place well before the Neal signing. Now, they're just being executed.
