Steelers Shot at Justin Fields Takes Interesting Turn

The Pittsburgh Steelers may have an opportunity in front of them.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers know they need better quarterback play in 2024, and if they aren't willing to let another season slip through their fingers, they could - and should - be looking at outside options.

One of those options remains Justin Fields. The Chicago Bears quarterback doesn't know where he'll end up this offseason, or if he's going to stick around in Chicago. But if he's available, which it feels like he is, the Steelers should make the phone call.

Really, they shouldn't hesitate.

In recent days, the Fields situation has gotten more interesting. One report says their top option with the first-overall pick, USC passer Caleb Williams, doesn't want to play for the Bears. Meanwhile, his offensive analyst, Kliff Kingsbury, has just become the Washington Commanders' new offensive coordinator.

Washington holds the second pick in the draft.

Maybe the Commanders are looking to get Williams. Maybe the Bears are comfortable with their second-best option, plus a few draft picks from a trade. And if that's the case, the Steelers shouldn't hesitate to make the call for Fields.
