Steelers Have Long List of WR Options
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers could be looking to add another veteran wide receiver this offseason, and if they are, the list is long - and has some star-studded names included in it.
Right now, Allen Robinson is set to take on an $11.9 million cap hit in 2024. If he's released, it saves the Steelers $10 million in salary cap space, making it a likely move for Pittsburgh before free agency. Once Robinson is released, the team could begin looking for a replacement, and if they believe their best option is through free agency, they have plenty of names to negotiate with.
Without naming everyone in the tweet above, the top of the wide receiver list features names like:
- Tee Higgins
- Tyler Boyd
- Michael Pittman Jr.
- Calvin Ridley
- Mike Evans
- Michael Thomas
And many more.
Boyd has already hinted at possibly joining the Steelers, and a return to his home city may be in the works if Pittsburgh wants an experienced and reliable slot wide receiver. Michael Thomas has been linked to Pittsburgh as well, being considered a potential signee for the Steelers.
The Steelers are roughly $15 million over the estimated salary cap, but with Robinson's release, they'll be very close to clearing enough space. Chances are, they have enough money to make a signing happen, it's just a matter of what wideout they're most interested in - and which one is most interested in them.
But with a long list of options, chances are they can find a match.
