Texans Sign Cowboys FA TE Dalton Schultz to 1-Year Deal
The busy offseason continues for the Houston Texans.
On Monday afternoon, the Texans added a major offensive piece to the puzzle, signing former Dallas Cowboys free agent tight end Dalton Schultz, according to reports.
The deal is set for one-year, with Schultz earning $9 million.
Schultz comes to the Texans after five years in Dallas, where he caught 211 passes for 2,122 yards and 17 touchdowns on 301 targets, the majority of which came over the last three seasons.
The 26-year-old was rumored to have passed up a three-year $39 million deal to return to Dallas, electing instead to hit the free agent market.
However, sources have told TexansDaily.com that that particular offer was never given.
The news comes less than 48 hours after Houston made a pair of other blockbuster moves, with the trade of Brandin Cooks to the Cowboys and the record extension of Laremy Tunsil.
Schultz now becomes the newest offensive weapon to join the new-look Texans offense, joining wide receivers Robert Woods and Noah Brown, runnings back Mike Boone and Devin Singletary, tight end Andrew Beck, quarterback Case Keenum, and offensive lineman, Shaq Mason.
The Texans also landed a host of defensive difference makers this offseason, including safety Jimmie Ward and defensive linemen Hassan Ridgeway and Sheldon Rankins.
