Astros 3B Alex Bregman 'Excited' for DeMeco Ryans and Texans

Houston's pride and joy has long been the Astros, but now that a new coach is in town, other Space City athletes are beginning to take notice.
In this story:

Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans is all about brotherhood.

Since his hiring in late January, he has made his rounds. He's met the owners, the fans and most importantly — the players, which has only increased the positive sentiment surrounding his name.

It makes sense ... a lot of sense, actually. Ryans is the fourth Houston head coach in as many years, dating back to Bill O'Brien. Following O'Brien's departure, it was clear that something needed to change.

But when the Texans signed David Culley the following year, nothing improved. Lovie Smith? The same story. A 3-13-1 finish gave Houston the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft and in comes Ryans, given the tall task of rejuvenating the franchise.

So far, Ryans is off to a great start, putting together a talented staff, and backing it up with arguably the best draft class of the year, headlined by C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson Jr.

And as a result, Ryan's positive aura has already made its way to players from one of Houston's other professional realms - Houston Astros star third baseman, Alex Bregman.

"I'm a big fan of C.J. Stroud and Tank [Dell]," Bregman said. "I haven't met Tank yet, but watching him from afar, I love his game. I'm excited for this football season. The Texans have a bunch of young talent ... and I'm [looking forward] to going and being a fan."

Sure, one can argue that it's a professional courtesy for players of one major sports team to speak highly of its counterpart, but there's a reason the question had to be posed to Bregman:

For what seems like the first time since DeAndre Hopkins' departure and J.J. Watt's retirement, stars are coming back to Houston with a certain level of following expectation.

Ryans was the harbinger of that talent and is now set to be the face of the Texans on the sidelines, regardless of if his stint proves to be successful or not. That being said, he's still got a lot of work to do before he can claim the next spot among the Texans' legends.

But if he does, it might just be one of the biggest comeback stories in the NFL.
